Dear Carolyn, What gets you to respond to a reader’s letter? (And the reverse - what makes you not respond?) I’m so bad about replying to reader mail that sometimes it seems hopeless to even start. This one caught my eye because it’s rare to get an actual “old school” typewriter page. I also liked the breezy writing style and colorful vocabulary. XO, Gabrielle P.S. I read your chapter in DEAR BULLY while waiting to do an event at Vroman’s in Pasadena. It was wonderful.

The plans didn’t go “on the window”; they went “out” it. Also, at least one absent comma. And Alyson Noël has an umlaut in her name.

Speaking of guest stars, a special thanks to my husband, Jonas, who just spent the past hour working the kinks out of my scanner so I could “send” you this note.  I would have taken a hammer to it, tears and all.

10/8/10 - Just realized I spelled “exhilarating” wrong.  That’s so…me.  I hand-write so fast that I often skip letters.  Argh.  Also, if I had to be truly picky I should have said “things NOT to miss…”  Oh, it’s hard being me sometimes. xoxoCM
